Technote Number: 1086842
Problem:
This issue was reported to Quality Engineering as SPR# MDLS54ZTJT and has been
fixed in Domino 5.0.10.
Excerpt from the Lotus Notes/Domino Fix List Database (available at
http://www.notes.net):
MIME - MIME to CD Conversion
SPR# MDLS54ZTJT - Fixed a problem which caused encoded Content-type:text parts
to not be decoded in certain situations. This would cause messages which had
been converted from MIME to Notes Rich Text to have quoted printable encoding
visible in them when viewed by an R4.x client.
The issue was also fixed in Domino 6.5.4 Fix Pack 1 (FP1) and 6.5.5.
Excerpt from the Lotus Domino Release 6.5.4 Fix Pack 1 fix list (available at
http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus):
MIME to CD conversion
SPR# MDLS54ZTJT - When MIME_CONVERT_HTML_TO_ATTACHMENT=1 was set, and an
incoming message contained HTML parts, which are quoted=printable encoded, the
quoted printable parts do not get decoded, and R4.6x clients see the encoding
when they look at the C.HTM attachment.
Refer to the Upgrade Central site for details on upgrading Notes/Domino
Supporting Information:
The document titled "Is There a Way to Convert Messages that Contain HTML to
Attachments in Domino R5?" (#1090293) describes the
MIME_CONVERT_HTML_TO_ATTACHMENT parameter as follows:
"This NOTES.INI parameter makes the R5 server act like the R4.x SMTP MTA -- all
body parts containing HTML code are moved to attachments, and when end users
launch the attachments, it launches the default web browser."
